CAP Webinar – Requesting Software and Training

Redeait Teferra: Welcome to CAP’s webinar
on requesting software and training from CAP. My name is Redeait Teferra and with me today
is Sydney Bryan. Sydney Bryan: Hello, everyone. Redeait: Today we will be discussing the process
of requesting software from CAP, as well as how to request upgrades and training for assistive
technology software programs. CAP can provide either digital or physical
copies of various types of software, including (but not limited to) screen magnification,
speech recognition, and screen readers. CAP can also provide upgrades and training
for these programs if necessary. Sydney: Software requests are submitted using
the request form located on www.cap.mil. After selecting the type of software to be
requested, a pop-up will appear with the option to indicate whether the customer already has
the selected software and would like an upgrade. If requesting an upgrade, the form will ask for
the serial number of the customer’s existing software license. CAP will need to know both the serial number
of the existing software as well as the current version number in order to procure any upgrades. Please note that CAP does not retain license
keys or serial numbers for software purchased for customers. Redeait: Also in the popup will be a space
for customers to indicate whether they would like training for the requested software. A customer can also indicate that they already
have the software, and need to request only the training. Customers may request training for software
they already have even if CAP did not purchase the software for them. Sydney: CAP may suggest to a customer that
they access any available computer-based training first. Many customers find the computer-based training
will adequately meet their needs. If the training needs cannot be fully addressed
by the computer-based training option, customers may request onsite training at their location. CAP will ask the customer to indicate if they
prefer receiving the training either an eight hour block or in two four hour blocks. Redeait: Please note that in order to receive training, customers must first have the software
installed and activated on their computer. The CAP Assessment Team must receive written
confirmation that the software has been installed in order to approve a request for training. This confirmation question and other follow-up
questions will be asked once a customer has submitted a request for training. Sydney: For more information about requesting
software, please visit www.cap.mil or call 833-227-3272 or 703-614-8416. You may also contact us via videophone at
