at the bottom, and click on computer. Choose the drive that you would like to format. I
have two here, and a third one with the drive letter of W. That’s the one that I want to
format. Right-click on it, and select format. This brings up the Windows format screen.
You can choose the file system that you would like to install on your new drive. NTFS is
the one that Windows uses from XP on. The allocation unit size, you can leave it the
default value. You can also give your hard drive a new volume when you…volume name
when you format it. I’m just going to type My Hard Drive. And you have the option to
do a quick format. A quick format will not check the drive for errors. It will simply
do the formatting, whereas if you un-check quick format, it will go over every block
in your drive to make sure that it’s a good drive. When you’re ready to start formatting,
just click the start button.
