Hi everyone! As promised, welcome in our test car! This is the second episode of my Valeo life. If you haven’t seen the first one yet, you can go directly into the website of Valeo or also to the social media. Look! This is the last feature I developed. When a pedestrian crosses the street, I have the augmented reality image that appears just above the wheel, so we can warm the driver, very useful! Before going in the test car, you can imagine that there is a lot of work to do! First of all, I gather the technical specifications from my Functional Leader, William. The requirements come directly from the Innovation Software Project Managers and from the Marketing team. Once William has collected all this information, he gives me an overview and assigns me very specific tasks. Then my first activity consists in providing a workload estimation, so this way we can establish a complete planning for the project. This is Sometimes, we start our implementation from scratch. Blank page! But other times, there is already an existing source code. Whether the operating system is Windows or Linux, I set up the necessary tools. All along my developments, William and I communicate a lot: he helps me solve issues when I am stuck in a code. You know, I think collaboration is essential in any team. Besides, these exchanges I have with Lucia are also very rewarding for me! When the implementation is over, I deliver it for integration. This is And now, follow me! Do you know this place? I am at the Valeo stand in the Paris Motor Show. No more distraction, let’s go back to my work. After the integration phase, all the team members are ready to test the features. This is During this time, I fixed all remaining bugs! Not always the funniest part… But it can be very instructive! This validation phase is my favourite. What a gratification when all your developments work well! Nothing compares to a happy customer face… Believe me it makes you very proud! It’s also a source of pride to see people on the Valeo stand. Maybe they will discover some of the innovations I work on. I hope you have now a better understanding of what it takes to be a Software Engineer at Valeo! See you for my third and last episode very soon!
