Enable RAID on NVMe drives by using Software RAID on Dell EMC’s 14th generation of PowerEdge servers

In this video, we’ll show how to enable RAID on NVMe drives using the Software RAID utility with an add-in card on Dell EMC’s 14th generation PowerEdge systems or later. To begin the process, turn on the system and press F2 to go to the System Setup page. To check whether software RAID is enabled, click Device Settings. If Dell EMC PERC S140 Configuration Utility is not listed here, this indicates that it is not enabled. Click Finish. To enable Software RAID, click System BIOS, SATA Settings, and then select RAID mode from the Embedded SATA drop-down menu. Note: There might be a data loss while switching the embedded SATA mode. Make sure that you back up the data in SATA drives before performing this operation. Click Back. To enable RAID on NVMe drives, click NVMe Settings, and then select RAID mode. Click OK in the dialog box to change the settings. Click Back and click Finish. In the dialog box, click Yes to confirm the changes. The settings are saved successfully, click OK. Now, click Finish and click Yes in the Confirm Exit dialog box to reboot the system. Again, press F2 to go to the System Setup page, and then click Device Settings. Click Dell EMC PERC S140 Configuration Utility, Physical disk management, View Physical Disk Properties, Note: That if SATA drives are available in the system, the SATA drives are listed here. Now select NVMe as the interface type. RAID on the NVMe drives is enabled with Add-in Card form factor. You can select each physical disk to view the properties.
