My name is Chris and I’m a filmmaker. In the last video I actually made fun of the autofocus a bit. This is what I really think of the GH5 2.3 firmware update. ♪ [water falling] There’s not a whole lot of changes in this update. A lot of them are just tiny little things that make your life just a little bit easier when using this camera. My favorite is the battery indicator: it’s now showing in 25% increments instead of 33%, and it seems like such a small thing, but it really helps me. One of the things I liked about DSLRs was the ability to actually check your composition by looking straight through the lens. You didn’t have to depend on the camera’s ability to pick up the light. Well, with the addition of two new functions in the 2.3 firmware you can actually do that much easier now. I also really like the ability to disable some of the buttons that I’m sometimes accidentally pressing. For example, buttons for white balance and shutter speed. I can actually change them so that I have to continuously hold the button down in order to change those values. Since I’ve accidentally changed those on occasion, that’s really useful. I don’t really use autofocus, I haven’t investigated it. I’m so used to using manual focus because my previous camera didn’t even do autofocus in video mode. So, I’ve just continued that tradition with the GH5, knowing that the autofocus wasn’t one of its strong points, and some of the lenses I’ve put on my camera with adapters have to be operated fully manually anyway. So, not a whole lot in this update for the GH5, but just a few little things that really make using the camera a whole lot nicer. Thanks for watching.
