Hi, I’m Cassandra from inflow and if you’re wondering if barcoding is right for your business the easiest way is just to see for yourself. Here, let me split into two to show you! [Cassandra 2]
I’ll be scanning items into my order. [Cassandra 1]
I’ll be typing my orders manually [Music starts] It’s pretty clear barcoding is faster. So let’s show you how to get started. If you need to write barcode numbers Make sure you have a full list of your products to work with. For example: a spreadsheet with all your products would work perfectly When it comes to creating the barcodes you can use an online barcode generator or inventory software to create barcodes for each product. The goal here is to have a unique barcode for each of your products, colors and sizes. So if you sell a t-shirt in black and white each of those will have different barcodes. OK, on to step two! Now that you’ve got barcodes for each of your products, it’s time to actually print and label your current stock. This is easiest to do with a dedicated label printer like this LabelWriter 450 from DYMO. DYMO printers come with free software to help you design labels in different sizes. Use the product list and barcodes from step one and print labels for all of your current stock. Try to stay consistent about where you place the stickers, so they’re easy for people to scan. You’ll need to repeat this step for new stock as you receive it in. Ok! On to step three! The last step is finding software to tie everything together. You want software that recognizes which barcode you scanned and which products it’s tied to. This makes ringing up sales faster and makes picking more accurate. It’s also great to have software that knows what you’ve received. If you want to keep your inventory up-to-date, you’ll have to create new barcode labels every time you receive products. Manually generating labels can take a lot of time So it’s ideal if your inventory software automatically creates a list for you. Our software, inFlow Cloud, helps you establish the complete barcode system we talked about in this video. We can help you: Automatically generate new barcodes for your products or import existing ones Print and generate labels for current stock and newly received stock Plus adjust inventory after you scan onto orders to speed up your everyday work And that’s it!
